OUR STORY

A friendship that

became a

mission

Creative Healing Counseling & Wellness Center was born from a shared belief — that therapy should meet people where they are, use the languages they already speak, and serve communities that deserve exceptional care.

Founded in 2015, we've grown into a practice that serves all ages, all stages, and all walks of life.

Our mission is to provide therapeutic and wellness services to children and families that help bring them to a place of awareness in which true healing, integration, and self-discovery are present. We believe that everyone has the power and capability within themselves to discover the resources, supports, and tools that best meet their needs; our staff act as a guide and partner along your journey.

2015

THE BEGINNING

One

Alyssa Simmonds and Nefertitti Towns-Scott first crossed paths as school social workers in the same district — two professionals who cared deeply about children, families, and communities. Their paths diverged professionally, but their friendship and shared values never did.

In January 2015, they turned that friendship into action. They founded Creative Healing as a private practice rooted in the belief that healing doesn't have to look like a traditional therapy session. For children especially, connection happens through play, art, movement, and music — not just words.

With combined experience across school and outpatient settings, Alyssa and Nefertitti built a practice that understands the full picture of a person's life — home, school, community, and everything in between.

Alyssa brings 15 years of experience walking alongside children, families, and adults through some of life's most challenging moments. Her career spans school social work, where she served on a Child Study Team and provided both individual and group counseling, to intensive in-home services — meeting families exactly where they are.

At the heart of Alyssa's practice is a deep belief that healing doesn't have to look the same for everyone. She weaves expressive arts, SMART, HRV, & Neurofeedback into her sessions to open doors that traditional talk therapy sometimes can't — creating space for clients to express, explore, and grow in ways that feel natural to them.

Shauntel Lucius, LPC

THERAPIST

Shauntel approaches therapy the way the field demands — with curiosity, flexibility, and a commitment to growth. She draws from a powerful toolkit of evidence-based modalities including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) — blending them thoughtfully to meet each client's unique needs. At the heart of Shauntel's practice is a deeply held belief: that the therapeutic relationship is everything. She works with her clients — not just for them — helping each person recognize where they are, where they want to be, and how to bridge that gap toward a more optimal, fulfilling, and productive life.

Lyle Wallace, LSW

THERAPIST

Lyle brings more than 20 years of experience working with teenagers and families across a wide range of settings — and in that time, he's built a reputation for doing something that sounds simple but is anything but: making clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and empowered. His approach is multi-systemic and deeply personalized. Lyle draws from Person-in-Environment (PIE), Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and elements of Hip Hop Therapy (HHT) — a dynamic, culturally responsive framework that meets teens where they actually live, think, and feel. At the core of everything Lyle does is a belief in his clients' potential. He works alongside teenagers and families to uncover their unique strengths, confront the obstacles in their way, and build the skills they need to move forward — together.

Danielle Fitzgerald, LSW

THERAPIST

Danielle is an experienced social worker whose career spans community mental health, private practice, and school-based settings — giving her a grounded, real-world understanding of the many ways people seek and experience support. She has provided individual therapy, crisis intervention, and group therapy across all three environments, building a clinical depth that is both broad and deeply personal.

Her work with teens and young adults has given her a nuanced understanding of transitional stress — the unique pressure of navigating life's in-between moments, from adolescence into adulthood, and all the complex systems that come with it.

Danielle's approach is trauma-informed and client-centered, drawing from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and strengths-based techniques to help clients build insight, regulate emotions, and face life's challenges in ways that fit their own pace and needs. She believes therapy is a partnership — and she brings that belief into every session, creating a safe, supportive space where progress is always defined by the client, never the clock.
